Chapter 12

Dock sat with his chest pressed against the back of the wooden chair eyeing the woman that lay on the floor in front of him. The clothes on her back were snug fitting but terribly wrinkled, her hair was slightly disshelved but you could tell she had tried to keep it somewhat tamed and the fact that he had found her laid out on the ground seemingly unconscious meant one of three things: she was either high out of her mind, had just been beaten by a dealer for stiffing him on cash or she had slept outside all night. Either way, Dock knew someone from up above had to be smiling down on him by having him stray from his normal route home and taking Stuyvesant Avenue instead of Springfield; and deep down he knew it had to be the crew’s newest angel and overseer; Mike.

“What’s going on, Dock? I got your page, man.” Cashmere spoke rapidly as he walked through the front door of the apartment he and Dock had gone back to using as of late. From the door, he could see Dock’s back and the silhouette of a person lying down on the floor with their back facing him as well. “Dock, that’s not my baby girl is it?” Cashmere’s heart stopped as he slowly took steps towards where Dock sat with his eyes glued to what he knew was a woman’s body. For the first time since he entered the apartment, Dock turned his head to face his longtime best friend and responded to him.

“No, that’s not Kai.” Dock began and Cashmere let out a sigh of relief before Dock finished his statement. “But this is a piece to the puzzle that we’ve been trying to piece together for months now.”

“Here you go talking in riddles again, man. What are you talking about?” Cashmere asked. Getting up from the chair, Dock walked over to the woman and slowly turned her body so that she was facing Cashmere.

“Who the fuck is that?”

“That’s the infamous, Precious… She used to be Anita’s best junkie friend on the street before she let Q clean her up and not too long after Nita decided to clean up her act, she became Justice’s new shotgun shortie.”

“So you standing here telling me that the rumors about Justice fucking with junkies was 100?” Cashmere asked in disbelief.

“Real shit, man.” Dock nodded his head in assurance and for a minute Cashmere couldn’t help but eye Precious. His mind was reeling with the possibilities of finally being able to get rid of Justice once and for all.

Back when Kai was sixteen, he had given her the ultimatum of being with Justice or staying with him and she chose a man over her own father. Once her decision was made he didn’t override it as most parents would’ve, he let her go to prove that everything that glitters ain’t gold. Kai had made the ultimate mistake by being with Justice and this time around, he
